Eating is a magic rite during which the food becomes transformed into health, force, love, light. Observe yourself, if you eat in a state of anger, agitation, discontent, you will be left with a bitter taste in your mouth all day, you will feel nervous and tense, and, if there are difficult problems to be solved, you will be negative in your reactions, your decisions will lack fairness and comprehension, you will not be generous enough to make concession. It will do no good to justify yourself "it isn't my fault, I am so nervous, I simply cannot help it!" and then swallow some medicine or other to try and calm yourself ( which will do no good either). To improve your nervous system, you must learn to eat properly. Everything else should be set aside when you sit down to eat, even important affairs, for the only important thing at that moment is to nourish yourself in compliance with divine rules.

Whilst you eat you should think of the food with love, for that will make it open its treasures to you... when the sun warms the flowers, they open up; when it disappears, they close. If you love food, if you eat it lovingly, it will open and exhale a fragrance for you and give you the etheric particles you are looking for. You will see what a marvellous state you will be in once you stop eating automatically with no love, simply to fill the void in your stomach.

When you eat in silence and inner peace, the same peaceful state lasts all day, even if you have to run hither and thither all day, if you stop for a second you will see that the peace is still there. Because you ate correctly, if not, you will be agitated and upset, nervous and tense, all day long, no matter what you try to do to calm yourself.

Man builds his body with the food he absorbs, it is formed by what he consumes and for that reason you should stop to thinking that you will beaming with health no matter what you swallow, you must realize that a rapport exists between what you eat and the way you feel. When you fill yourself with incongruous mixtures, your system will not be able to eliminate them and you will fall ill. It is important to be careful what you take into your body.

"What do you think about when you eat? About your financial problems, about troubles in your love life, or about some remarks that recently offended you? In these conditions, how do you think you can make use of all the energies contained in your food? You are distracted, unfocused, and you swallow unconsciously. Even if your organism is nourished and reinforced, it has in fact received only the most material elements, and therefore the least life-giving. You have no idea of all the energies you could benefit from if you really knew how to eat – in inner silence, concentrating on the food in order to extract the etheric particles, for it is these that are the most beneficial. So, try to think of nothing else during meals. For at least half an hour, put everything else to one side and concentrate on what you put in your mouth. In doing so, you will extract from your food the subtle energies that help to fashion your psychic life as well."
